Brass Banding

Brass banding has always been a passion of mine.

When I first began brass banding I played with Astley Youth Brass Band. With this band I tried out the soprano cornet, however realised that it was not for me.

Later on I joined the Wigan Youth Brass Band. With this band I toured and performed around Europe in places such as Germany, and Czech Republic.

When I came to Leeds College of Music to study classical trumpet I joined the Yorkshire Imperial Urquart Travel Band, initially to help with the Scottish Open in 2013 playing the test piece "Contest Music" by Wilfred Heaton. This band pushed my limits, and helped my playing, even just in the few months I was able to play with them.

On 15th October 2014, I was recruited permanently as a volunteer member of the South Yorkshire Police Brass Band, rehearsing in Rotherham police station. I took up a seat on front row, and hopefully will continue to grow as a musician.

Unfortunately due to the length of time it was taking to get to and from band twice a week, we had to leave the band. Hopefully this isn't a permanent feature, and hope to join them again in the future. In the time being I have helped bands out such as Garforth Brass band at the Yorkshire area's in the 3rd section. Any bands who are wanting a Bb cornet, or flugel player to help at any concerts in the mean time, please don't hesitate to ask.
